VILLAGE OF WILLIAMS BAY

REFUSE COLLECTION

It is the responsibility of the owner or occupant of a residence to have their household garbage at the curbside on pick-up day. Pick up day for the east side of the Village (using the beach house as the center point) is Monday. The pick-up day for the west side of the Village is Tuesday. Once the garbage collectors have passed a certain street, they will not return. If you are out of town on your pick-up day, arrange for a friend or neighbor to put out your garbage and pick up your cans when emptied. Garbage cans placed throughout the Village park system are for park use only.

Remember that this service is for household garbage only. The garbage collector will not pick up leaves, grass clippings, construction materials, appliances, etc. Some items can be disposed of by contracting a private refuse collector. If a private refuse collector is needed, the Village will not pay for these services. The nearest landfill is Mallard Ridge located on Highway 11, west of Delavan. Their phone number is 414-724-3257.

UNSIGHTLY DEBRIS

Village Ordinance 9.12 prohibits "unsightly debris." What is unsightly debris? This is a matter of interpretation and judgement, however common sense would tell you that an old ripped up couch sitting by the side of the road for more than a day would be considered unsightly debris. Piles of old carpeting lying around someone's yard is unsightly debris. Junk cars in whole or in part are not only dangerous, but would constitute unsightly debris. The Village Board is trying to make the Village a better place to live for all concerned. Part of this task is to make Williams Bay aesthetically pleasing to the eye. All residents should pitch in to make their yard and neighborhood clean. We need your cooperation and help. The Village does have an Appearance Ordinance which will be enforced!
