On behalf of the Village of Williams Bay, Wisconsin, it is my pleasure to welcome you to our newly updated Village website. There are many people who work hard to promote, maintain and develop our community for those who work, play and live in the area.
Welcome to the Village of Williams Bay’s website. Our staff has been working hard to make our website more interactive and informative. We hope you find it useful as well as easier to navigate. Your suggestions are always welcome.
It is an honor to serve as your Village President. I want to express my appreciation for the support and encouragement I have received since taking office April 18, 2017.
While the Village has a rich history and a surprisingly array of resources and opportunities for a community our size, I want to highlight Village government in this edition of the President’s page.
A board composed of six Trustees and the Village President governs the Village. Each of the Trustees chairs one of six committees and serves on two others. There is more detail on these committees in other sections of the website. You are particularly encouraged to attend the Committee of the Whole meeting on the second Wednesday of the month when all the committees meet. The Board meets the first and third Mondays of the month.
The Village staff is lead by our Administrator James Weiss who provides day-to-day supervision of our Police Chief, Director of Public Works, Building Inspector, Clerk, Treasurer, Recreation Director, as well as other administrative and seasonal staff. The elected Municipal Judge oversees the Municipal Court.
A skilled and dedicated group of volunteers staff our Fire Department and Rescue Squad and Dive Team. They are an inspiration to us all and deserve your support.
The Barrett Memorial Library is a great local resource supported financially by the Village and governed by the Library Board. For a Village our size, the quality of staffing, the collection, and services are most impressive.
The Kiswauketoe Nature Conservancy (KNC) is an amazing 230-acre natural resource owned by the Village but staffed by volunteers and interns funded by outside grants. A generous group of individuals, Friends of KNC, help fund the KNC so that Village funds are not used for operations.
I encourage you to become involved in Village government by attending meetings, serving on committees and commissions, volunteering at events and more.
Join me in making the Village of Williams Bay the best it can be.
